COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH (CS)
EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE
EPS has seven grades according to
density. The CS starts from 35 KPA to
414KPA. e.g. the CS for SK12 (12-15)
Kg/m3 is 35 KPA, SK50 (46-50) Kg/m3
is 414 KPA.

to fix. The MEP services can be
applied on Top of EPS or Below the
EPS by using manual cutting
machine with cutting wire.

Geoplast is easy to fix, and the MEP services can be applied below the system only.
WATER PROOFING SYSTEM (WPS)
EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE
In EPS Geofoam & void flling, the WPS can be applied on top of existing
slab (below the EPS) or on the 2nd screed slab (above the EPS)

In Geoplast system only the WPS can be applied on the 2nd screed slab above the
system due to making overlap between the dowels in the system with the Existing slab.
THERMAL RESISTANCE (R-VALUE)

EPS with Thermal conductivity
K- Value =0.035 (w/m.k) will have the R-value of 28.6 (k.m2/w) at 1m thickness which is a high result and will give an advantage to not using the Soft insulation below the Existing element.
GEOPLAST
Geoplast thermal conductivity k-value is the same of the air which equal to 1 (w/m.k), The R-Value for 1m thickness= 1(k.m2/w) which is a low result and needs to add soft insulation below the Existing element.
SOUND ABSORPTION (INSULATION)
EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE
EPS can give a high value of soundabsorption. No need to add acousticsystem.
GEOPLAST
Geoplast is an empty air and the sound of the drainage or pipes & manholes will be audible and accoustic system is needed.
LOAD TRANSITION
EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE
The load applied to EPS as distributed load will be transfered to the structure
element as distributed load.
GEOPLAST
The load afected to Geoplast as distributed load will be transfered to the structure element as point load.
REACTION TO EARTHEQUAKE

EPS reacts as one mass with the building, EPS is a rigid & fully solid materials.
GEOPLAST
Geoplast system has small column each 50 or 70 cm & the column thickness is around 125mm which is very low to carry the
seismic load.

EPS is a Class A fire retardant and has a
flame spread = 10.

Geoplast has a vacuum of air and the air is a contributing factor to the spread of fire.
